Everything you need to know about serving in the CityKids team.

CityKids

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14

Do you believe that every child is uniquely significant and has the potential to influence the world they grow up in? At Citykids, WE DO!!! Citykids programs and its leaders promote an environment where “child-ishness” is celebrated and “personality” is encouraged in an effort to promote the unique grace, love and identity each child has in Christ.

Children think, perceive, learn and operate in the world differently to us adults. Their unique perspective should be realised and moreover celebrated. As such, in an effort to present Jesus Christ and his Church (and each child’s place within it), children are encouraged to actively engage in our program through fun activities, Bible-based lessons and genuine relationships.

Compulsory

Induction
A legal requirement we have as a Church is to run all new volunteers through an induction process. It sounds very formal but is actually really helpful and will give you a smooth entry into our volunteer family at Citylife.

Part of the induction process is making sure you have gone through the content on this page and on our Serve page. After that, you will be given a link to our Volunteer Induction page and catch up with Colin to run through the information relevant to you.

WWCC
All our kids volunteers at Citylife must have an up-to-date WWCC. See below link to apply for yours and once you have been approved, send through the details to office@citylife.org.au.

FAQ’s

  • No. At Citykids, we maintain and uphold child protection laws and policies according to the ACC. Hence, our programs will always be facilitated by at least two adults who have valid Working With Children Checks. As such, if you are considering being part of the team, you will need to arrange a Working with Children’s Check (see link above).

  • If you would like to volunteer your time, then absolutely please show up, we’d love to see you (given you have a WWCC) and would appreciate your time. Alternatively, as a leader, you’ll share the load and have responsibility within the team to organise and/or facilitate different elements within the program.

  • You are not just another volunteer, not just a helper or an assistant required by law to ensure that children are supervised during a Church service or program. You’re not just a parent, carer or child worker using your ‘grown-up’ skills to entertain children in a kids church ministry.

    NO…!!! You’re a leader; a visionary; an encourager; a counsellor; a mentor; a friend; a source of strength/wisdom/light; you’re a teacher; a guide; a facilitator; a public speaker; a servant; a navigator.

Whilst at Citykids you’re all these and more!
