What does it mean to follow Jesus? What does He command us to do?

Jesus’ Commands

“If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15

Believing in Jesus and becoming a Christian is only the beginning. That’s why Jesus instructs His followers “to go and make disciples”. It is more than just believing, it is following and devoting your life to Jesus. In the first four books of the New Testament, there are four similar accounts of the life and teaching of Jesus. Here we read what Jesus instructed His first disciples to do and is what He wants us to put into practice too. Jesus calls this keeping His commands and is what being a disciple is all about.

1. Respond to Jesus

The first of Jesus’ commands and the most important of all.

2. Love God

God made us His priority, now we get to make Him ours.

3. Love People

The unconditional love God has for us takes the conditions off our love for others.

4. Grow Spiritually

You have been born again by the Spirit, now it’s time to grow up in the Spirit.

5. Gather as the Church

God has brought us into His family of people, the Church.
